Why should I trust your painters?
Inviting strangers into your home can be an unnerving prospect but with D&D Hinton Painting service you can rest assured that all our staff will show the utmost respect to you, your home and your belongings. We have a highly professional team who are non-smokers and are always well presented. We are also fully insured with public and product liability covers for that extra peace of mind.
Who manages my painting project?
As a small family owned business you can take confidence knowing company director, Darryl Hinton, will be on site throughout your project, managing every painting project personally.
Does someone need to be home during my painting project?
No; in fact, many of our clients are not around during the day.
For most domestic projects, our painters will arrive by 7:30am so you will have the chance to touch-base with them each morning. And remember we are a 24/7 company so arrangements can be made in advance to accommodate your schedule with night or weekend work if that’s what suits you best.
What do I need to do to be ready for the painters?
Not much!
For interior painting we will move any furniture that you can’t move on your own and cover everything with dropsheets. We do however ask that you remove any precious items and small knick knacks from inside or on top of the furniture. Please also remove any pictures from the walls. If you have nails that need to be removed, please mark them with a pencil, or simply remove them and we will fill the holes. We will also take off and reinstall the outlet and switch cover plates.
Exterior projects generally require even less prep work from the homeowner. We will move or cover any outdoor furniture as necessary. If you have gardens close to our house, wherever possible, foliage should be trimmed at least 30 to 40 centimetres away from any surfaces to be painted.
How do you safely prepare surfaces for painting?
Preparation is the most critical stage in how any finished paintwork will look.
Traditionally it has been an unfortunately dirty aspect of painting projects however there are now many options available for preparing surfaces with minimal mess.
Vacuum sanders & stripping treatments both reduce the amount of dust created during surface preparation and diminish the associate risk from airborne partials.
Dropsheets will also be use during all stages of your painting project to ensure the cleanest possible work environment and we will clean up every day before leaving.
What paints do you use?
In recent years there have been many fantastic developments in paint products including Low VOC paints, Nanoguard®, Microban® & Teflon® technologies.
Which paints we use will depend on the area and surface being painted and Darryl will discuss the best options with you when preparing your quote.
Only premium quality paints from trusted brands such as Taubmans, Dulux & Wattyl are used. This ensures the best possible finish and the longest life for your paintwork.
I have a problem with mould or mildew. Can you prevent this from re-occuring?
Where mould or mildew is present surfaces will be washed with a treatment before painting.
A particular paint or paint additive may also be recommended to minimize regrowth.
While we will make every effort to address the problem, mould and mildew are a sign of an existing damp issue unrelated to your paintwork so we are unable to guarantee that it will not re-occur.
How do I select a colour?
Selecting colours is a very individual process based on your personal preferences and the mood you would like to create for the space you are painting.
Colour swatches and design cards from your local hardware store are a great place to start. There are also many digital tools available to help with colour selection and especially the way lighting will affect how colours will work in a particular space, with links to some of our favourites available here on our website.
We can match colours to any brand so just find something you like and we’ll work from there. And if you would like to stay with your current décor but can’t remember the colour names that’s OK; we can match to an existing colour as well.
If in the end you’re still struggling to decide on the right colors for your project – or you just want an expert opinion – let us know and we will do our very best to help.
What if I decide that I don't like the colour after you've started to paint?
At the end of the day, we want you to be happy so the sooner we know the better.
We understand that color selection is one of the most difficult decisions you will make, so Darryl will always discuss your colour choices with you before we start painting
